Who we are
The I 4:1 Mission was founded upon a desire to address and be honest with scriptural principles regarding family, home and marriage. More than a decade ago, during a season of diligent Scripture study, II Samuel 12 became the catalyst for examining a truth believed to have been largely overlooked within the modern church.
As Nathan's rebuke of King David was studied, the "rich man with many flocks and herds" came to be understood as representing David and his many wives, while the "poor man with one little ewe lamb" represented Uriah and Bathsheba. Through prayerful study and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it became evident that David's sin was not in having multiple wives, but in taking another man's wife and violating the covenant order established by God.
This understanding was further affirmed by II Samuel 12:8, where the Lord declares through Nathan:
"I gave thee thy master's wives into thy bosom... and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things."
These words are understood as revealing that God Himself gave David multiple wives and would have given him more according to His will. This challenged the common belief that God merely tolerated polygyny in the Old Testament. Instead, it led to the conviction that biblical polygyny, when practiced within God's righteous order, was part of His divine providence and blessing.
As God's Word on this matter was examined more deeply, a consistent biblical pattern emerged among many of His chosen patriarchs—including Abraham, Jacob, David, and others—who lived in plural marriages under God's guidance and favor.
Out of these convictions, I-4:1 Mission was born. Inspired by Isaiah 4:1, the mission exists to restore what it believes to be the biblical understanding of patriarchal leadership and polygyny while encouraging families to embrace God's design for marriage through faithful study and obedience to His Word.
Today, under the leadership of a biblical patriarch and his three wives, I-4:1 Mission exists to glorify God through teaching, discipleship, and the strengthening of families. Its purpose is to illuminate Scripture, equip believers with sound biblical doctrine, and call men and women back to the order, unity, and fruitfulness of God's design for marriage and family as revealed throughout His Word.
